The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who loves solving hard problems in distributed systems and thrives in a startup environment. You’ll work on the core architecture that powers our data versioning and collaboration platform, ensuring Oxen.ai remains highly performant, reliable, and scalable. You can go into any customer convo, determine their roadblocks, unblock them.

What You’ll Do

• Design and implement core backend components in Rust for Oxen.ai’s distributed data platform.
• Develop high-performance, fault-tolerant systems for managing large-scale datasets.
• Build APIs and internal tools that enable seamless integration with cloud storage systems and developer workflows.
• Collaborate closely with product, ML, and frontend teams to deliver robust backend services.
• Optimize performance across storage, retrieval, and synchronization layers.
• Contribute to open-source projects and community engagement around Oxen.ai.

What You Bring

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience, with strong proficiency in Rust (or equivalent systems-level languages such as C++ or Go, with a willingness to learn Rust).
• Experience designing and maintaining large distributed file systems or storage systems (Dropbox, S3, Google Drive, or similar).
